Lawsuit on deceptive banner ads   *   Dec 6, 2002

Don't you just hate those ads that pop up, looking like an error message from your own computer? If you've been naive enough (and most of us have, at one time or another!) to click on one of them, you'll find your computer full of new internet ads popping up in new windows -- and your home page hijacked and/or your internet history erased so you cannot go back to the originating site. On some computers, you'll have to shut down your system in order to regain any control at all -- and if you are editing a document, or haven't saved some other work, you are just out of luck -- your unsaved work is lost.

A Spokane, Washington, law firm has filed a class action suit against Bonzi Software, Inc., a common purveyor of this trash advertising, according to an article this morning at seattlepi.com. They even featured it on their front page on their website.
